6 Awesome Ways To Raise Your Awareness
This is a guest post by my friend from Twitter, Bud Hennekes. I am impressed by the maturity of his thought at 18 years of age and I am sure you find this post useful.
As creatures of habit, many of us fail to realize how little we actually control. The truth is, most of us spend the majority of our lives asleep. Think about all the chores you do without even knowing why. Think about all those limiting beliefs you "choose" to subscribe to.
When you focus on becoming aware you get a glimpse of what it feels to be truly awake. And only when you are awake, can you create the life that you desire.
Becoming aware of your thoughts and actions does take work. It involves facing the monsters in your closet and overcoming them, but the dividends of becoming conscious are well worth the effort. Awareness builds understanding, and understanding breeds contentment.
Here are few simple ways to become more aware.
Meditate: Close your eyes and take a deep breathe. Focus on the current moment and how it makes you feel. Let your thoughts flow. Just be. Turn off the constant chatter of the always busy world and appreciate the moment at hand. Consistent Meditation can transform your world.
Observe: Let’s be honest, the world can sometimes be intense leaving very little time to simply observe. Take a moment to observe the specifics of your reality. Really look at your loved one or spouse, notice the details of a flower, feel the wind on your skin. As you begin to observe the world more you will soon begin to see the beauty of life. Slow down to observe at least once a day.
Search Within: The quickest way to develop awareness is to search within yourself. Contemplate your current belief systems and drop the negative beliefs in which hold you back. Experiment with beliefs that draw you to action. While this method is more time consuming and somewhat uncomfortable at first, it remains a powerful growth tool.
Journal: Keeping a journal is a wonderful way to discover more about your current reality. The possibilities of journaling are endless. Let your thoughts flow and pose questions for your subconscious mind to work on. Notice what events might trigger certain emotions. I personally have found the benefits of journaling extremely rewarding especially when it comes to overcoming mental blocks.
Read: Reading expands your mind for words are literally fuel for your brain. While just reading is incredibly beneficial, take it a step further and thoroughly contemplate the ideas in which you read. Make sure to read books that challenge your current belief systems as this will certainly cause you to grow.
Connect: Surround yourself with conscious individuals who bring out the best in you. Hang around people who challenge you to shine. Create authentic relationships and watch as you develop into the person you know you were meant to be. When you connect with humanity you experience oneness.
It’s only been a few years since I began consciously working on my awareness and I have already seen tremendous benefits in my own life. I am confident if you’re diligent in your working on your own awareness you too can reap similar results.
Autopilot existence has seemingly become the norm, yet one always has the choice to disengage. The power you possess is extraordinary, don’t let it go to waste by living in a zombie state. In your journey to becoming aware you will certainly stumble, accept this as part of the process and continue to look forward. Awareness is an never ending process, accept the challenge, live and be mindful.
